"Wavesong," a new single from Joe Iconis & Family, is now available to stream on all major platforms. Written for The Untitled Unauthorized Hunter S. Thompson Musical, the track features music and lyrics by Iconis, who also provides lead vocals.
As previously reported, The Untitled Unauthorized Hunter S. Thompson Musical will play Washington, D.C.'s Signature Theatre in summer 2025.
“I wrote ‘Wavesong’ for a very specific moment in the …Hunter S. Thompson… musical," Iconis said in a statement. "Hunter has spent the entire show yelling about the dire state of America in the late 1960s and how he thinks we ought to burn the whole thing down and start again. At the end of the first act, Hunter’s wife asks him to describe the America he wants to see and he responds with ‘Wavesong.’ While the subject matter is specifically tied to the events to the political and social upheaval of 1960s and 1970s America, the hope is that the song, and the musical, also speaks to the America of today.”
