The Menier Chocolate Factory revival of the 1980s Jerry Herman revue Jerry's Girls officially opens at the London venue May 22.
Directed by Hannah Chissick (Pack of Lies, Eugenius), with choreography by Olivier winner Matt Cole (Fiddler on the Roof) and musical supervision and arrangements by Tony winner Sarah Travis (Sweeney Todd), the production began previews May 18.
The cast features Olivier winner Cassidy Janson (& Juliet, Beautiful), Julie Yammanee (Bonnie and Clyde, Spamilton), and Jessica Martin (Me and My Girl, Mack and Mabel), backed by an all-female band.
The production, scheduled to continue through June 29, also has
set and costume design by Paul Farnsworth and lighting design by Philip
Gladwell.
Celebrating the life and legacy of the late Tony-winning composer Herman, the revue features songs from Mame; Hello, Dolly!; Milk and Honey; Mack and Mabel; and La Cage aux Folles.
Jerry's Girls was created by Herman and collaborator Larry Alford in 1981, opened Off-Broadway to critical acclaim, and resulted in a hit national tour and a run on Broadway, staged and directed by Alford and choreographed by Wayne Cilento. The Broadway production played the St. James Theatre November 1985-April 1986 with a cast that included Tony winners Dorothy Loudon, Chita Rivera, and Leslie Uggams.
Jerry's Girls is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals Ltd.
