Tony-nominated Slave Play playwright Jeremy O. Harris will emcee The Art of Elysium’s 2024 Heaven Gala. The evening, celebrating the organization's 25th anniversary, will be held January 6, 2024, at Los Angeles' The Wiltern, which will be transformed into an ethereal library.
This year's gala will honor writer, director, and producer Neil Gaiman with the Visionary Award. Gaiman has worked on the theme of the evening—a library where knowledge is free and refuge is given—alongside designer Michael Ralph.
Other honorees include actor Amy Smart and TV host Carter Oosterhouse, who will receive The Spirit of Elysium Award for
their outstanding charitable contributions; and actor Cara Santana, who will be retrospectively presented with the 2021 Spirit of Elysium Award, recognizing her tireless efforts in support of The Art of Elysium’s mission during the global pandemic.
Expected guests include Christian Louboutin, Julia Garner, Jon Hamm, Nikki Reed, Ian Somerhalder, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and more.
The Art of Elysium Founder Jennifer Howell said in a statement, "We
are so thrilled to have Jeremy serve as the librarian within Neil
Gaiman’s vision of HEAVEN. Jeremy was introduced to The Art of Elysium
family this year at the Cannes Film Festival. He speaks the very
language of our mission and is a walking example of the power of
creation and how art truly heals. Having him conduct the evening with
his talent and sheer genius brings the best of the New York City stage
to Los Angeles for this very special evening."
All proceeds from the gala benefit programs and services of The Art of Elysium, the non-profit organization with a focus on healing and inspiring through art.
