Tony winner and Late Late Show host James Corden has just premiered his latest Crosswalk the Musical segment: The Sound of Music.
This was the first time the popular sketch aired in primetime (as part of his third Carpool Karaoke Primetime Special) and therefore, he welcomed a host of CBS stars as guest performers in the troupe.
Oscar winner and Tony nominee Allison Janney and Anna Faris of Mom, Kunal Nayyar of The Big Bang Theory, and Iain Armitage of Young Sheldon took part in the presentation of the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical.
Watch as Janney and Corden both take on the role of Maria and the cast performs standards as “The Sound of Music,” “My Favorite Things,” “The Lonely Goatheard,” and “Do Re Mi.”
Janney last appeared on Broadway in Six Degrees of Separation and has been Tony-nominated for her leading role in 9 to 5 the musical and in the 1998 revival of A View From the Bridge. She won an Oscar earlier this year for her work in I, Tonya. She is a seven-time Emmy-winning actor for The West Wing, Masters of Sex, and Mom. Corden hosted the Tonys in 2016 having won the statue for One Man, Two Guvnors in 2012.
Filmed in 2023, the one-night-only event featured Brian Stokes Mitchell, Audra McDonald, Peter Friedman, and more from the Ahrens and Flaherty musical's original cast.
