Off-Broadway News Into the Woods Tony Nominee Julia Lester Will Be Miss Marmelstein in Off-Broadway's I Can Get It for You Wholesale Revival

The Classic Stage Company revival will also feature Santino Fontana, Judy Kuhn, Adam Chanler-Berat, Rebecca Naomi Jones, and more.

Julia Lester, a 2023 Tony nominee for her performance as Little Red Riding Hood in the recent revival of Into the Woods, has landed the role of Miss Marmelstein in Classic Stage Company's upcoming revival of I Can Get It for You WholesaleBarbra Streisand famously created the part, making her Broadway debut in the musical's 1962 premiere.

Classic Stage Company's 2023-2024 season—the first programmed by new Producing Artistic Director Jill Rafson—will launch in the fall with the upcoming revival, which begins previews October 10 prior to an official opening October 30.

Directed by Trip Cullman (Choir Boy), the limited engagement will continue through December 3.

As previously reported, the cast will be led by Tony winner Santino Fontana (Tootsie) as Harry Bogen and Tony nominee Judy Kuhn (Fun Home, Chess) as Mrs. Bogen with Adam Chanler-Berat (CSC’s Assassins) as Meyer Bushkin, Eddie Cooper (CSC’s Assassins) as Tootsie Maltz/Ensemble, Adam Grupper (Pictures From Home) as Maurice Pulvermacher, Greg Hildreth (Company) as Teddy Asch, Rebecca Naomi Jones (Oklahoma!) as Ruthie Rivkin, Ryah Nixon (Kinky Boots) as Ensemble, and Sarah Steele (The Humans) as Blanche Bushkin. Complete casting will be announced at a later date.

Featuring a book by Jerome Weidman, based on his novel, and music and lyrics by Harold Rome, the upcoming production will feature a revised libretto by Weidman’s son, John Weidman (Pacific Overtures, Assassins). I Can Get It for You Wholesale is set in 1937 in New York City's Garment District and follows Bronx-born shipping clerk Harry Bogen (Fontana), who must choose between the comfort of community and his own ambitious dreams.

The CSC production will also have scenic design by Mark Wendland, costume design by Ann Hould-Ward, lighting design by Adam Honoré, sound design by Sun Hee Kil, choreography by Ellenore Scott, a score arranged and adapted by David Chase, and music direction and orchestrations by Jacinth Greywoode.

Bess Marie Glorioso will serve as the production stage manager, and Luner Eclipse Productions will serve as production manager.
