Connecticut's Westport Country Playhouse has unveiled its upcoming 2019 programming. Featuring five productions and kicking off in the spring, the season will begin with the Tony-winning musical In the Heights, by Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda with a book by Quiara Alegría Hudes.

The season will also feature two critically acclaimed Off-Broadway plays, Lynn Nottage’s Mlima’s Tale and Dominique Morisseau’s Skeleton Crew, as well as the musical Hershey Felder as Irving Berlin and Moliere’s comedy Don Juan.

In the Heights, directed and choreographed by Marcos Santana, will run April 23–May 11. Winner of four Tony Awards, the musical paints a loving portrait of New York City's vibrant Spanish-speaking community Washington Heights.

Next up will be Skeleton Crew, running June 4–22. Set in a Detroit auto plant, the story centers around four factory workers navigating shifting power dynamics in their attempt to survive. A director will be announced at a later date.

Hershey Felder as Irving Berlin, with lyrics and music by Irving Berlin, book by Hershey Felder, and directed by Trevor Hay, will run July 16–August 3. From Czarist Russia to New York’s Lower East Side, the immigrant story features some of the composer’s most popular songs, including “God Bless America,” “Puttin’ on the Ritz,” “There’s No Business Like Show Business,” and “White Christmas.”

In October, the Playhouse's artistic director Mark Lamos will direct Nottage's Mlima’s Tale, the story of a magnificent elephant whose tusk is passed along the illegal ivory trail. Performances will run October 1–19.

The 2019 season will culminate with Don Juan, directed by David Kennedy, playing November 5–23.
