For its upcoming Broadway bow, Suzie Miller's Prima Facie will release 10 tickets for $10 each ahead of every performance with all fees included in the price. The tickets will be made available on Wednesdays via a weekly digital lottery on the show's website beginning April 5. Previews will begin April 11 in the Golden Theatre where the show will open April 23.
Rehearsals began earlier this week for the solo show which stars Emmy winner Jodie Comer (Killing Eve) reprising her role from the sold-out West End run. She makes her debut as Tessa, a young and smart barrister who has climbed her way from working class to becoming a star in the legal field. But as her career and her personal life collide in an unexpected event, she's forced to confront how patriarchal power over the law and burden of proof have created a system that can't deliver justice. Dani Arlington continues to serve as understudy.
Justin Martin (The Jungle) directs the production, and has been nominated for a 2023 Olivier for Best Director. Comer and Miller have also earned 2023 Olivier nominations for Best Actress and Best New Play, respectively. Comer has already taken home the Evening Standard Award for Best Actress, the WhatsOnStage Award for Best Performer in a Play, the West End Debut Award from The Stage, and the BroadwayWorld UK/West End Award for Best Newcomer. The WhatsOnStage Award for Best New Play was awarded to Miller and Martin won a BroadwayWorld UK/West End Award for Best Direction of a New Production of a Play.
The production also features an original score by Rebecca Lucy Taylor (aka Self Esteem), two-time Tony nominee scenic and costume design by Miriam Buether, lighting design by Drama Desk nominee Natasha Chivers, sound design by Drama Desk winners Ben and Max Ringham, and video by William Williams for Treatment Studio. The Broadway run will be general managed by 101 Productions Ltd.
The Broadway production will work with The Schools Consent Project, a U.K.-based charity that seeks to educate young people on issues surrounding consent and sexual assault.
The production is also launching the Prima Facie Pro Bono Project, offering low-priced ticket lottery and rush tickets at every performance, while also providing free ticket access to specific partner and community organizations.
The show does include a trigger warning for including sensitive subject matters with references to sex, violence, and sexual assault.
