News Guess Who's Coming to Dinner, With Stars of "Cosby" and After Midnight, Opens in Boston Tonight A new production of Guess Who's Coming to Dinner, adapted by Holler If Ya Hear Me book writer Todd Kreidler, officially opens Sept. 10 after previews that began Sept. 5 at Boston's Huntington Theatre Company. "Cosby Show" star Malcolm-Jamal Warner and Adriane Lenox star.

David Esbjornson (Driving Miss Daisy) directs the Huntington production that is adapted by Kreidler from the William Rose screenplay. The new production of the classic play runs through Oct. 5.

Warner is best known for playing Theo Huxtable on "The Cosby Show." He portrays Dr. John Prentice. Tony Award winner Lenox (After Midnight, Doubt) plays Mary Prentice, with Lonnie Farmer as John Prentice, Sr., Meredith Forlenza (The Winslow Boy) as Joanna Drayton, Julia Duffy ("Newhart") as Christina Drayton, Will Lyman (All My Sons) as Matt Drayton, Lynda Gravatt (Cat on a Hot Tin Roof) as Matilda Binks, Patrick Shea (Child's Play) as Monsignor Ryan and Wendy Rich Stetson (In the Next Room) as Hillary St. George.

According to the Huntington, "This funny and poignant new stage adaptation offers a fresh interpretation of the beloved Academy Award-winning film. Joanna surprises her liberal, white parents when she brings home John, her African-American fiancé, to meet them. Both sets of parents must confront their own unexpected reactions and concerns for their children as their beliefs are put to the test in this warm family comedy."

The production has scenic design by Dane Laffrey, costume design by Paul Tazewell and lighting design by Allen Lee Hughes.
