The Cameron Crowe-Tom Kitt tuner has set a new release date for the original cast recording.

"One day, you'll be cool." That day is April 21, when you can add Almost Famous – Original Broadway Cast Recording to your record collection. The cast album from Sony Masterworks Broadway and producers Lia Vollack and Michael Cassel is available today for digital preorder. 

In addition to the new date announcement (the release was originally planned for March 17), the production has released the single "1973," the musical's opening number. Get a first listen to that track below. 

Almost Famous, based on the 2000 Oscar-winning Cameron Crowe film name, follows a 15-year-old aspiring music journalist who Rolling Stone hires to go on tour with an up-and-coming rock band. The musical features a book and lyrics by Crowe and music and lyrics by Tony and Pulitzer winner Tom Kitt (Next to Normal). Kitt penned arrangements and orchestrations, and vocal design is by AnnMarie Milazzo.

Lending their voices to the album are the musical's original cast: Solea Pfeiffer, Chris Wood, Casey Likes, Tony nominee Anika Larsen, Drew Gehling, and Rob Colletti. The company is rounded out by Matt Bittner, Chad Burris, Gerard Canonico, Julia Cassandra, Brandon Contreras, Jakeim Hart, Van Hughes, Jana Djenne Jackson, Katie Ladner, Danny Lindgren, Erica Mansfield, Alisa Melendez, Kevin Perdido, Andrew Poston, Emily Schultheis, Daniel Sovich, Libby Winters, and Matthew C. Yee.

The track list for the digital album the original Crowe-Kitt numbers from the stage musical, as well as some of pop hits from movie such as "Tiny Dancer" and the hit "Fever Dogs" by the film's fictional band. 

Almost Famous opened at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre November 3, 2022 where it played 30 preview performances and 77 performances before closing January 8, 2023. The production was directed by Tony nominee Jeremy Herrin. 

Previously released tracks from the album include Songs include "Morocco," performed by Likes and Pfeiffer (listen here) and "The Night-Time Sky's Got Nothing on You," performed by Pfeiffer and Wood (listen here).
