The Off-Broadway Cell Theatre revival of Elizabeth Swados' Nightclub Cantata, which opens May 2, celebrates the 45th anniversary of the original 1977 production. The revival began performances April 23 and is set to continue through May 22.

Directed and choreographed by Bill Castellino, the production's cast Almeria Campbell, Victoria Casillo, Jesse Manocherian, Matthew Liu, Sarah Nandola, Pearl Rhein, Noah Ruebeck, Hansel Tan, and Miles Whitaker.

The work is a joyful song cycle of world literature about survive, what compels us back to life and to living as one. Created by late theatre icon Elizabeth Swados, the piece features texts by Swados and Brian Avidan, Nazim Hikmet, Nancy Larrick, Isabel Leitner, Eve Merriam, Pablo Neruda, Sylvia Plath, Muriel Rukeyser, and Delmore Schwartz. Nightclub Cantata premiered at The Village Gate in 1977 and has not been seen on the NYC stage in more than 40 years.
