Amanda Peet’s Our Very Own Carlin McCullough will receive its world premiere the Geffen Playhouse this summer as a late addition to the Los Angeles theatre’s 2017–2018 season. Tyne Rafaeli will direct.
The play replaces the previously reported production of Fat Pig, which has been canceled following playwright Neil LaBute’s sudden dismissal as playwright in residence at MCC Theater Off-Broadway.

Exact dates and casting will be announced at a later date (Fat Pig was to star This Is Us’ Chrissy Metz and run May 16–June 24).
Peet's play, about a ten-year-old tennis prodigy and the fight for control between her mother and coach, was commissioned as part of the Geffen's New Play Development program. Rafaeli helmed a reading last year through MCC; the cast included Tony nominee Maria Dizzia and To Kill a Mockingbird-bound Will Pullen.
The Geffen season continues February 27 with Sara Jones' Sell/Buy/Date, with Joshua Harmon's Significant Other and Dominique Morisseau's Skeleton Crew also on the horizon.
