Regent's Park Open Air Theatre in London has revealed its full 2024 summer season, with three productions joining previously announced family offerings Bear Snores On and The Enormous Crocodile. The season is the final to be programmed by outgoing Artistic Director Tim Sheader, who is poised to take over London's Donmar Warehouse beginning in March.

The season will begin with Shakespeare's Twelfth Night (or What You Will), performing May 3–June 8. Owen Horsley will direct, and opening night is May 9. The new musical version of Roald Dahl's The Enormous Crocodile—featuring a book and lyrics by Suhayla El-Bushra, music by Ahmed Abdullahi Gallab, and additional music and lyrics by Tom Brady—will run concurrently May 17-June 8, with opening night set for May 22. Emily Lim is co-directing with Toby Olié, who provides puppetry design.

Next up will be a new adaptation of Frances Hodgson Burnett's novel The Secret Garden by Holly Robinson and Anna Himali Howard. Howard is directing, with performances running June 15-July 20. Opening night is June 25.

Closing out the season will be a new revival of Fiddler on the Roof, running July 27-September 21 with Jordan Fein at the helm. Opening night will be August 6. The new staging will feature choreography by Julia Cheng, music supervision by Mark Aspinall, design by Tom Scutt, sound design by Nick Lidster, and lighting design by Aideen Malone.

Casting and further creative team members for all productions are to be announced.

“Following the announcement of Bear Snores On at the end of last year—marking the first time in our 92-year history that we’re producing a project in the spring—we’re now thrilled to be sharing our 2024 summer season with you," say Sheader and Executive Director James Pidgeon in a joint statement. "This year’s summer season includes a Shakespeare comedy revival; a new commission of a literary favorite, continuing our commitment to the development of new work; a revival of a musical classic which this year celebrates its 60th birthday; and a new musical for ages 4+, produced in collaboration with Roald Dahl Story Company and Leeds Playhouse. Whilst Drew McOnie, our new Artistic Director, begins work on plans for 2025 and beyond, we very much look forward to welcoming you to Regent’s Park this summer for Tim’s 17th and final season which continues to celebrate the magic and power of togetherness that comes with telling stories under a shared sky.”

Memberships are currently on sale, with public ticket sales set to begin February 1 at noon GMT.
