The free concert will be presented Feb. 8 at 7:30 PM in the David Rubenstein Atrium as part of Lincoln Center's LC Originals: First Look series. The event will be live-streamed at lincolncenter.org/lc-live.
Some Lovers had its world premiere in 2011 at San Diego's Old Globe Theatre. The O. Henry tale "The Gift of the Magi" serves as a touchstone for the story that traces the relationship of Molly and Ben over different stages of their lives as they reflect on their past and work to make things right in the present.
"Burt and I are thrilled to be working with Lonny Price and Matt Cowart, with our great cast, and with everyone at Lincoln Center on the forthcoming concert version of Some Lovers," Sater told Playbill.com. "We have done substantial work on the show (both script and score) since our premiere at the Old Globe, and are excited and proud of where we've come out. So this is a chance for New Yorkers to get a sneak-listen to the songs."
Barber and Mueller both played the younger versions of Molly and Ben in the Old Globe premiere. Swenson and Phillips will portray the adult versions of the characters.
The concert will have musical direction by Andy Einhorn, vocal arrangements by AnnMarie Milazzo and orchestrations by Jonathan Tunick.
