The Urban Stages production of Ellen Abrams’ Eleanor and Alice–Conversations Between Two Remarkable Roosevelts, seen at the Off-Broadway venue earlier this season, returns for an encore run beginning April 5 prior to an official opening April 10.

Directed by Urban Stages Founder and Artistic Director Frances Hill, the limited encore presentation will continue through April 30.

Tony winner Trezana Beverley (for colored girls who have considered suicie / when the rainbow is enuf) and Drama Desk winner Mary Bacon (Coal Country) return to the roles of, respectively, Eleanor Roosevelt and Alice Roosevelt Longworth.

Throughout the historical drama, Eleanor and Alice Roosevelt—friends, cousins, and rivals—meet at eight crucial moments over 60 years. One Democrat and one Republican, they witness a changing world from their unique vantage points.

The production also has lighting design by John Salutz, sound design by David Margolin Lawson, costume design by Gail Cooper-Hecht, video design by Kim T. Sharp, and set design by Jaime Terazzino and Madeleine Burrow.

The associate producer is Vincent Scott, and Duane Pagano is the lights/set consultant. Fiona Misiura is the production stage manager, Leigh Selting is the stage manager, and Kate Gavin is the assistant stage manager. The production also has graphic design by Sylvia Haber of Perpetuart.

Opening night will include a champagne reception and guest speaker Harold Holzer, who serves as director of Hunter College’s Roosevelt House Public Policy Institute. With novelist and journalist Kevin Baker, Holzer will discuss the lives of the Roosevelts when they lived at 47-49 East 65th Street.
