The line-up for the 22nd annual event includes Brian Gallagher (Jekyll & Hyde), Jarrod Spector (Beautiful: The Carole King Musical), Nick Cordero (Bullets Over Broadway), Eric Anderson (Soul Doctor), Donnie Kehr (Jersey Boys), Andrea Dora (Tarzan), Preston Truman Boyd (On the 20th Century), Michael Lanning (Bonnie & Clyde), Amma Osei (Rock of Ages), Jen Perry (Kinky Boots), Aaron Ramey (The Visit), Jeremy Schonfeld (Spun), Tony Vincent (NBC’s “The Voice,” American Idiot) and Angela Wildflower Polk (Motown).
"From the totally tubular neon clothes and teased hair," state press notes, "to the outrageous politics, giant computers, boom boxes and, of course...the unforgettable music," the concert is set to feature the biggest hits in rock 'n' roll from the 80's, including pop, new wave, heavy metal, rap, techno pop and charity rock.
Stage, screen and music icon Gibson will be awarded the Rockers Lifetime Achievement Award at the event. All proceeds from the evening benefit Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS (BC/EFA) and non-profit performing arts education programs.
The first Rockers On Broadway was held in spring 1993 at the China Club on 75th St. It featured the cast of the Tony-winning Broadway rock musical The Who's Tommy along with the show's creator and rock legend, Pete Townshend, as well as Joe Walsh, Linda Perry and Eddie Vedder.
The PATH Fund (Performing Artists That Help), which is producing, is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to raising money for charities that benefit arts and entertainment organizations. Tickets are available at Le Poisson Rouge Box office at 158 Bleecker St., or online at LePoissonRouge. For more information on the event, visit RockersonBroadway.
