Stage to Page Dear Evan Hansen’s Will Roland Shares the Impressions That Got Him Started as a Comedian On Episode 7 of The Broadway Cast, Roland, Jenn Lyon, and School of Rock’s Eric Petersen talk about their funny beginnings.

On the seventh episode of Playbill’s new podcast The Broadway Cast, Broadway comedians Eric Petersen, Jenn Lyon, and Will Roland, shared stories of how they found comedy as children.

Petersen, who currently plays Dewey in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s School of Rock, says he realized he had a gift for comedy with his impression of a certain president. Similarly, Roland, who now stars as Jared in the Tony-winning Best Musical Dear Evan Hansen, discovered his talent for impressions and getting a laugh when he was about six or seven years old. Lyon, last seen on Broadway in Larry David’s Fish in the Dark, started even younger—in preschool. Her biggest gag took place during naptime.
