Regional News Chicago Shakespeare Delays World Premiere of Ingrid Michaelson-Bekah Brunstetter The Notebook Musical

Due to the rise in COVID-19 cases, the new musical has been postponed until the fall.

Due to the rise in COVID‑19 cases in Chicago and nationwide, Chicago Shakespeare Theater has postponed its upcoming world premiere of the new musical The Notebook, based on Nicholas Sparks' novel of the same name.

Previously announced to debut in March, the new musical will now make its premiere September 6-October 16 in The Yard. Patrons will be contacted with options for rescheduling.

The world premiere has music and lyrics by singer-songwriter Ingrid Michaelson (The Way I Am, Girls Chase Boys) with a book by playwright Bekah Brunstetter (This Is Us). Michael Greif (Dear Evan Hansen, Next to Normal) and Schele Williams (Aida, Motown the Musical) team up to direct. 

The Notebook chronicles the decades-long love story between a mill worker named Noah and a privileged debutante named Allie.

All’s Well That Ends Well will begin performances as scheduled April 22, and It Came from Outer Space will premiere June 22. Chicago Shakespeare also presents a virtual WorldStage presentation—Ontroerend Goed’s TM—February 2-13. Visit ChicagoShakes.com.
