Casting has been announced for the Donmar Warehouse's world premiere of Anna Mackmin’s Backstroke, which will begin previews at the London venue February 14 prior to an official opening February 20.
Also directed by the playwright, the cast will be led by Tamsin Greig as Bo, Celia Imrie as Beth, Lucy Briers as Carol, Anita Reynolds as Jill, and Georgina Rich as Paulina. Chloe Hart and Rhashan Stone will be featured in filmed scenes within the production.
Backstroke follows Bo, who is busy balancing the pressures of work and the needs of her struggling daughter. When her mother, Beth, is admitted to hospital following a stroke, the practical realities of the present collide with the complexities of their past.
The production will also have designs by Lez Brotherston, lighting design by Paule Constable, sound design by Christopher Shutt, video design by Gino Ricardo Green, choreography by Scarlett Mackmin, casting by Anna Cooper, and associate direction by Fiona Dunn.
Performances are currently scheduled through April 12.
