International News Cast Set for Return of Afterglow to London's Southwark Playhouse

The play spotlights a gay married couple in an open relationship.

Full casting has been announced for the Southwark Playhouse return of S. Asher Gelman’s Afterglow, which made its London premiere at the venue in summer 2019. The play explores the complex dynamics of a gay married couple in an open relationship and will begin performances January 12, 2024.

The cast will feature Peter McPherson as Josh, James Nicholson as Darius, and Victor Hugo as Alex. Paddy Cavendish will understudy all of the roles.

Gelman will also direct his play, which centers on gay, married couple Josh and Alex, who are in an open relationship and invite a third, Darius, to share their bed for a night.

The new production will reunite members of the original design team, including set designer Ann Beyersdorfer, lighting designer Jamie Roderick, and sound designer Alex Mackyol. They will be joined by costume designer Justin Nardella, intimacy director Lee Crowley, and casting director Anne Vosser.
