Classic Arts News Cast Set for NYC Return of H.M.S. Pinafore

Performances of the Gilbert and Sullivan classic will begin December 30 at the Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College.

The 48th season of the New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players will continue next month with H.M.S. Pinafore; or, The Lass That Loved a Sailor. Performances are scheduled for December 30-31 and January 7-8, 2023, at the Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College.

The cast will include James Mills as Sir Joseph Porter, David Auxier as Captain Corcoran, Michelle Seipel as Josephine, Angela Christine Smith as Little Buttercup, Cameron Smith as Ralph Rackstraw, Victoria Devany as Cousin Hebe, Lance Olds as Dick Deadeye, Matthew Wages as Bill Bobstay, and David Wannen as the ship’s Carpenter.

The ensemble features Caitlin Borek, Brooke Collins, Michael Connolly, Michael Galante, Hannah Holmes, Sarah Hutchison, Claire Leyden, David Macaluso, Daniel Z. Miller, Logan Pitts, Chris-Ian Sanchez, Nathan Seldin, Laura Sudduth, and Laurelyn Watson-Chase.

Founder and Artistic Director Albert Bergeret will share the conductor’s podium with Associate Conductor Joseph Rubin.

H.M.S. Pinafore charted a new course for musical theatre with its lampooning of overblown nationalism, party politics, class distinction, and classic melodrama.

Performance times are December 30 at 2 PM and 7:30 PM, December 31 at 2 PM, January 7 at 2 PM and 7:30 PM, and January 8 at 3 PM.
