"Enter all the little fairies to their usual tripping measure!" The complete cast has been announced for the New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players' production of Iolanthe, which has performances April 5 and 6 at the John Jay College's Gerald W. Lynch Theater.

Iolanthe, subtitled The Peer and the Peri, tells the story of the fairy Iolanthe, who has been banished from Fairyland for the crime of marrying a mortal. Her half-fairy son Strephon courts a similar sentence by seeking the hand of Phyllis, a ward in Chancery. When the Lord Chancellor—Phyllis' guardian—recklessly insults the Fairy Queen, a battle ensues between the Fairies and the House of Lords, with Strephon and Phyllis caught in the center.

Mezzo-soprano Amy Maude Helfer will star as Iolanthe, with baritone David Macaluso as Strephon, soprano Claire Leyden as Phyllis, baritone James Mills as the Lord Chancellor, and contralto Angela Christine Smith as the Queen of the Fairies. Daniel Greenwood and Matthew Wages will play Lords Tolloller and Mountararat, rival suitors for Phyllis' hand. The principal cast will be rounded out by David Wannen as Private Willis, Caitlin Borek as Celia, Alexandra Imbrosci-Viera as Leila, Natalia Hulse as Fleta, and Peter Shaerf as the Lord Chancellor's Train Bearer. The chorus will include Sam Balzac, Carlyn Barenholtz, Michael J. Connolly, Katie Hall, Maurio Hines, Hannah Holmes, Sarah Hutchison, Dana Kluczyk, Patrick Lord-Remmert, John Charles McLaughlin, Quinto Ott, Kendrick Pifer, Michelle Seipel, Laura Sudduth, Tyler Tejada, and Adam Hirama Wells.

The production, directed by NYGASP Artistic Director Albert Bergeret, will feature choreography by David Auxier, sets by Jack Garver, costumes by Gail J. Wofford, and lighting by Benjamin Weill. Bergeret will also conduct the 25-piece NYGASP orchestra.
