Regional News Cast Complete for Rubicon's World Premiere Dark of the Moon Musical

Rubicon Theatre of Ventura will present the world premiere of Dark of the Moon: A New Musical, based on the 1945 Broadway play, March 29-April 16 at Rubicon Theatre Company. Opening night is scheduled for April 1.

Rubicon Co-Founder James O’Neil will direct the developmental musical production with choreography by Tony winner Christopher Gattelli (Newsies), musical supervision by Brad Haak, musical direction by Brent Crayon, and arrangements by Dillon Kondor.

The cast will feature Ava Delaney as Barbara Allen, Jake David Smith as John, Jennifer Leigh Warren as Conjur Woman, Timothy Warmen as Conjur Man, Olivier winner Lesli Margherita as Raven, Juliette Redden as Arwen, Dylan Goike as Devin, Teri Bibb as Gemma Allen, Joseph Fuqua as Thomas Allen, CJ Cruz as Floyd, Anna Demaria as Ella, Jane Macfie as Patricia Bergen, Phillip Attmore as Uncle Deuce, Heather Youmans as Katie, Trevor Wheetman as Trevor, Sylvie Davidson as Saoirse, Marc Cardiff as Preacher Haggler, Michael Allen Deni as Marvin, and Michael Stone Forrest as Ralph Wharton.

Ensemble members include Ximena Valentina Alvear, Madeline Marquis, Lauralyn McClelland, Mark C. Reis, Spencer Ty, and Anastacia Noelle Jones.

Based on Howard Richardson and William Berney's play, the new production is adapted and written by Jonathan Prince with music and lyrics by songwriters Lindy Robbins, Dave Bassett, and Steve Robson.

Dark of the Moon follows John, a witch boy from the Smoky Mountains, who falls in love with Barbara Allen, a beautiful and rebellious mortal who longs for more than she finds in the fictitious Appalachian town of Buck Creek. John makes a deal with the conjur people to give up his immortality if he and Barbara can stay true to each other for a year. 

The production will also have set design by Mike Billings, lighting and projection design by Andrew Schmedake, sound design by Jonathan Burke, costume design by Pamela Shaw, props and furniture design by Alex Choate, fight choreography by Patrick Vest, and dialect consulting by Joel Goldes
