Full casting and creative team have been announced for the Reading Rep Theatre's upcoming production of Joe Calarco’s queer play Shakespeare’s R&J. The first U.K. revival of the work, which debuted on the West End 20 years ago, will run at the Berkshire theatre October 11–November 4.
The cast will include Elijah Ferreira, Luke Daniels, Brayden Emmanuel, and Tom Sowinski. Reading Rep Artistic Director Paul Stacey will be at the helm of the production.
The work centers on four young prep school students taking turns reading Romeo and Juliet aloud. As they read, they become swept away, their lives paralleling those of the notorious characters featured in Shakespeare's classic.
The creative team will also include Chris Cuming as movement director, Anna Kelsey as designer, John Rainsforth as lighting designer, Jamie Lu as sound designer, and Sarah Harkins as casting director.
