Broadway vets Janine LaManna (Seussical, Sweet Charity) and Felicia Finley (The Wedding Singer) lead White Plains Performing Arts Center's The Prom, which began at the Westchester venue October 7 and is set to continue through October 23. Get a first look at the production below.
LaManna and Finley are joined by Keith Schneider as Barry, Nathan Cockroft as Trent, Emily Royer as Alyssa, and Megan Colton as Emma, along with Alex Agard, Eriel Milan Brown, Tim Canali, Liz Davis, Timothy Matthew Flores, Travis Flynt, Collin Hancock, Jordana Kagan, Quincy Lawson, Paulette Oliva, Leah Platt, Taylor Joseph Rivera, Mark Saunders, Daniella Tamasi, and Jake Urban.
With a book by Chad Beguelin and Bob Martin, music by Matthew Sklar, and lyrics by Beguelin, The Prom follows four egotistical Broadway stars who descend on small-town Indiana after hearing that a local school has banned a lesbian student from attending prom. The work premiered on Broadway in 2018 and was adapted for the screen by Netflix in 2020.
WPPAC's production, the work's U.S. regional premiere, is directed by Frank Portanova with music direction by Stephen Ferri, choreography by Lexie Fennell Frare, scenic design by Christopher and Justin Swader, lighting design by Eric Norbury, sound design by Don Hanna, and costume design by Antonio Consuegra. Chelsey Steinmetz is stage manager.
