Broadway pulled in a total of $29,567,891 million for the week ending January 8, with 29 productions running. Theatregoers paid an average of $113 a ticket, with shows playing to 94 percent full houses.
The Tony Award-winning revival of The Color Purple soared in its final week of performances. The stripped down revival, starring Tony winner Cynthia Erivo as Celie, grossed $1,173,925 in its final week, breaking the house record at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre for an eight-performance schedule.
