Initial casting has been announced for the Muny premiere of the 2005 Broadway musical The Color Purple, which will play the St. Louis venue August 3-9.
Lili-Anne Brown will direct the production with choreography by Breon Arzell and music direction by Jermaine Hill.
The company will be headed by Brittney Mack (Six) as Celie, Nasia Thomas (Caroline, or Change) as Nettie, Evan Tyrone Martin (Blues in the Night) as Mister, Tracee Beazer (Frozen) as Shug Avery, Gilbert Domally (Choir Boy) as Harpo, and Nicole Michelle Haskins (Hopelessly Devoted) as Sofia. Additional casting will be announced.

The musical adaptation of Alice Walker's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel (and the popular 1985 Stephen Spielberg film) features a book by Marsha Norman and music and lyrics by Brenda Russell, Allee Willis, and Stephen Bray.
