As the 2023 awards season continues on, Broadway talent continues to be awarded at every turn. The Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards were handed out February 26, and lots of theatrical talent took home top honors.

Brendan Fraser, last seen on Broadway in 2010, won the Best Male Actor in a Leading Role award for his performance in the film adaptation of Samuel D. Hunter's The Whale, in what has become one of the tightest races of award season. Future Madame Morrible Michelle Yeoh won Best Female Actor in a Leading Role for her performance in Everything Everywhere All At Once, and it was that film ensemble, including SpongeBob SquarePants and Be More Chill alum Stephanie Hsu, that received the Best Motion Picture Cast award.

On the television side of things, both ensemble awards went to shows featuring Broadway talent: for Comedy, Abbott Elementary (which features Tony nominee Sheryl Lee Ralph) was honored, and for Drama, the second season of The White Lotus (featuring Jennifer CoolidgeMeghann Fahy, F. Murray Abraham, and more) took top honors.

Coolidge was double honored, receiving the Best Female Actor in a Drama Series award, and she was joined by Broadway's current Nora in A Dolls House, Jessica Chastain, who won Best Female Actor in a Television Movie or Limited Series for her work on George & Tammy, and Jean Smart, who won Best Female Actor in a Comedy Series for her work on Hacks.

Additionally, Tony winner Andrew Garfield presented the Lifetime Achievement Award to Tony nominee Sally Field, honoring her 58 year long career so far.

The SAG Awards are voted on by the more than 120,000 members of SAG-AFTRA. As an actors union, the SAG Awards are one of the most specialized of the major awards ceremonies, handing out only performance based awards rather than including behind the camera categories.
