Tony winner Bonnie Milligan will lead upcoming private industry readings of Helen, a new musical inspired by the legend of Helen of Troy. The invitation-only readings will be held November 16 and 17.
The musical features a book, music, and lyrics by Joe Maloney (The Boy in the Bathroom). Taking inspiration from Euripides' Helen, the work follows the mythological beauty as she attempts to take her own life back while hiding out in Egypt during the Trojan War.
Along with Milligan, the cast will feature Max Clayton (Chicago, The Music Man), Ani Djirdjirian (Spamilton), Kennedy Kanagawa (Into the Woods), Ramona Keller (Caroline, Or Change), Ashley Lalonde (Hamilton), Tara Martinez, Kevin McGuire (Les Misérables), Christina Sajous (SpongeBob SquarePants), and Mary Stout (Jane Eyre). Casting is by Rori Bergman Casting.
Rachel Klein (The Gospel According to Heather) is directing with Luke Williams serving as music director. The creative team also includes production stage manager Morgan R. Holbrook and assistant stage manager Kelly Merritt.
DMH Mendoza Productions and Jim Kierstead are producing.
