Following the announcement, protestors took to the streets of New York City with signs reading "Black Lives Matter." They moved towards Rockefeller Center, where the annual Christmas tree lighting was being held and featured performances from Broadway stars Idina Menzel, Cyndi Lauper, Billy Porter, the Rockettes and more.

Members of the Broadway community used the hashtag #BlackLivesMatter to express their thoughts and reactions to the protests and the grandy jury's decision.
