The Olivier-nominated Sister Act The Musical will return to the West End next year, beginning March 15, 2024, at London's Dominion Theatre and continuing through August 31, 2024.
The cast will be led by Olivier winner Beverley Knight, who will reprise her work as Deloris Van Cartier, having played the part in London in summer 2022. Knight, who can currently be seen at The Old Vic in her Olivier-winning performance as Emmeline Pankhurst in Sylvia, will continue with Sister Act through June 8.
Knight will be succeeded by Alexandra Burke, who played Deloris in the 2016 tour of the Alan Menken musical. She is scheduled to star in the return engagement June 10-August 31. Additional casting will be announced.
Bill Buckhurst will direct with choreography by Alistair David, set and costume design by Morgan Large, musical direction by Neil MacDonald, lighting design by Tim Mitchell, sound design by Tom Marshall, and musical supervision by Stephen Brooker. Casting is by Stuart Burt.
Based on the film of the same name, Sister Act features music by Tony and Oscar winner Menken, lyrics by Glenn Slater, a book by Bill and Cheri Steinkellner with additional book material by Douglas Carter Beane.
The musical played Broadway's Broadway Theatre March 24, 2011-August 26, 2012, officially opening April 20, 2011. The New York production earned five Tony nominations, including Best Musical.
The musical tells the story of a disco diva whose life takes a surprising turn when she witnesses a murder. Under protective custody, she is hidden in the one place she won’t be found: a convent.
Sister Act is produced by Jamie Wilson, Gavin Kalin, Kevin McCollum, and Curve.
