The new musical adaptation of Beetlejuice will release an Original Broadway Cast Recording. The album, from Ghostlight Records and Warner Bros. Records, is set to be recorded in May; details on a digital and physical release to follow.
The show, featuring a score by Eddie Perfect and a book by Scott Brown and Anthony King, opened April 25 at the Winter Garden Theatre.
Alex Brightman stars as the title bio-exorcist demon, with Sophia Anne Caruso as Lydia. The principal cast also includes Tony nominees Rob McClure and Kerry Butler as Adam and Barbara, Adam Dannheisser and Leslie Kritzer as Charles and Delia, Danny Rutigliano as Maxie Dean, Jill Abramovitz as Maxine Dean and Juno, and Kelvin Moon Loh as Otho.
Rounding out the company are Tessa Alves, Gilbert L. Bailey II, Will Blum, Johnny Brantley III, Ryan Breslin, Natalie Charle Ellis, Brooke Engen, Abe Goldfarb, Eric Anthony Johnson, Elliott Mattox, Mateo Melendez, Sean Montgomery, Ramone Owens, Presley Ryan, and Kim Sava.
Though inspired by the Tim Burton dark comedy, the musical adaptation of Beetlejuice centers on the dynamic between Beetlejuice and Lydia, who realize they can help each other reach their goals: the former to join the living, and the latter to join the Netherworld (and be reunited with her mother).
Alex Timbers directs the staging, which features choreography by Connor Gallagher, sets by David Korins, costumes by William Ivey Long, lighting design by Kenneth Posner, and sound design by Peter Hylenski. Kris Kukul serves as orchestrator and musical director.
