Film & TV News Barbra Streisand Named 59th Recipient of SAG Life Achievement Award

The 30th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards will stream live on Netflix.

EGOT-winning actor and director Barbra Streisand has been named the 59th recipient of SAG-AFTRA's highest tribute: the SAG Life Achievement Award for career achievements and humanitarian accomplishments.

The award is given annually to an actor who fosters the “finest ideals of the acting profession.”

Streisand will be presented with the honor February 24, 2024, at the 30th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, which will stream live on Netflix at 8 PM ET from the Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall.

Streisand added, “Ever since I was a young girl sitting in the Loew’s Kings Theatre in Brooklyn, I dreamed of being one of those actresses I saw on the screen. The movies were a portal to a world I could only imagine. Even though I was an unlikely candidate, somehow my dream came true. This award is especially meaningful to me because it comes from my fellow actors, whom I so admire.”

Streisand has recorded 52 gold, 31 platinum, and 13 multi-platinum albums, achieving No. 1 albums in each of the six consecutive decades. She is the only artist ever to receive Oscar, Tony, Emmy, Grammy, Directors Guild of America, Golden Globe, National Medal of Arts, and Peabody awards, as well as France's Legion d’Honneur, the American Film Institute’s Lifetime Achievement Award, and is the first female film director to receive the Kennedy Center Honors. In 2015, President Barack Obama presented her with the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
