Barrington Stage Company has announced initial casting for its 2016 season, which features two world-premiere musicals. The line-up includes Tony winner Michael Rupert (Falsettos, On The Town), Orange is the New Black star Annie Golden, Tony nominee Will Swenson (HAIR), Beautiful’s Jarrod Spector and Wicked’s Jenni Barber.

The season will kick off May 18 with the world premiere of Joel Waggoner and Eric Price's Presto Change-O. Helmed by Broadway director Marc Bruni with choreography by Chris Bailey, the new musical follows three generations of magicians in a story about family and magic. Joining Rupert, Spector and Barber, the cast also includes Tony nominee Barbara Walsh (Company), Lenny Wolpe (The Drowsy Chaperone, Wicked) and Bob Walton (42nd Street). Performances are scheduled to run through June 11.

BSC’s second world-premiere musical will be Joe Iconis, Lance Rubin and Jason SweetTooth Williams' Broadway Bounty Hunter, starring Golden in the lead role along with Jeff McCarthy (Chicago). Golden will star as a middle-aged, unemployed actor on a quest to capture Broadway’s most notorious criminal. Featuring an R&B and funk score, the musical is inspired by the Blaxpoitation films of the 1970’s. The new work features direction by Leah C. Gardiner and choreography by Jeffrey Page, with performances scheduled to run August 12-September 4.
