“I am very proud that we bring American theatre’s most compelling voices to Louisville,” commented artistic director Les Waters in a press statement. “Our 2017–2018 Season affirms Actors Theatre’s commitment to sharing stories that not only entertain, but also encourage us to explore and redefine the world we live in now.”

The season will kick off with the two-part Angels in America, directed by the theatre’s associate artistic director Meredith McDonough. Part One: Millennium Approaches and Part Two: Perestroika will run in rotating repertory from August 29–October 15.

In the new year, the Actors Theatre will present Little Bunny Foo Foo, a show billed as a playful re-imagining of the classic children’s song with new music by Malloy. The show, directed by Waters, will run January 9–February 4, 2018.

Morisseau’s Skeleton Crew, which had an acclaimed Off-Broadway run at the Atlantic Theater Company in 2016, will play January 24–February 11, 2018. The play traces the shifting bonds and power dynamics between workers at an auto plant in Detroit during the 2008 recession. A director, as well as an additional production, will be announced at a later date.

The annual Humana Festival of New American Plays will run February 28–April 8, 2018. The lineup will be announced in the fall.
