Broadway News Aaron Tveit to Return to Broadway's Moulin Rouge! The Musical

David Harris and André Ward, cast members of the musical's national tour, will also join the New York production.

Aaron Tveit will reprise the role of Christian in Broadway's Moulin Rouge! The Musical for a 12-week limited engagement beginning January 17, 2023, at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre. Tveit, who won a Tony Award for his performance, will star opposite Ashley Loren as Satine.

Also joining the Tony-winning production will be David Harris and André Ward from the show's North American national tour. Harris and Ward will take on the roles of The Duke of Monroth and Toulouse-Lautrec, respectively, starting February 7, 2023. Declan Bennett, who currently plays The Duke of Monroth, will depart the production January 15 with Dylan Paul stepping in for the interim period, January 17-February 5. Tony nominee Sahr Ngaujah, who originated the role of Toulouse-Lautrec, will depart February 5.

The production also announced that Tony nominee Derek Klena will return as Christian April 11. Current cast members Eric Anderson, Caleb Marshall-Villarreal, Jessica Lee Goldyn, and Oyoyo Joi will continue to star.

Best Musical Tony winner Moulin Rouge!, based on the 2001 film, opened on Broadway in 2019 following a Boston tryout. The production is directed by Alex Timbers with a book by John Logan (based on the Baz Luhrmann-directed movie of the same name) and choreography by Sonya Tayeh. The score features covers of "Fireworks" by Katy Perry, "Your Song" by Elton John, and "Chandelier" by Sia, among many others. The story takes place at Paris' famed Moulin Rouge and follows the tragic love story between performer Satine and composer Christian.

The production's music team includes Justin Levine as musical supervisor, Matt Stine as music producer, and Cian McCarthy as music director. Orchestrations are by Levine, Stine, Katie Kresek, and Charlie Rosen, with dance arrangements by Levine and Stine.

Also on the creative team are Derek McLane as scenic designer, Catherine Zuber as costume designer, Justin Townsend as lighting designer, Peter Hylenski as sound designer, David Brian Brown as hair designer, and Sarah Cimino as makeup designer, with creative services by Luhrmann and Catherine Martin. Casting is by Jim Carnahan and Stephen Kopel.
