Colorado’s Denver Center for the Performing Arts has announced its 2017–2018 theatre company season, as well as its Off-Center programming, an offshoot that has become known for boundary-defying theatre. A highlight of the upcoming Off-Center lineup is an immersive, 360-degree staging of Michael John LaChiusa and George C. Wolfe’s musical The Wild Party, which will debut this fall with direction by Amanda Berg Wilson.

Staged inside the 18,500-square feet event space, The Hangar at Stanley, The Wild Party will invite audiences to dress up and immerse themselves in a roaring, Prohibition era-style celebration. Performances will run October 12–31.

DCPA’s theatre company season will kick off September 15 with an all-new interpretation of Macbeth from award-winning playwright and director Robert O’Hara. Shakespeare’s tragedy will be staged in the round in the newly opened Space Theatre through October 29.

The season will continue in 2017 with Lydia R. Diamond’s Smart People, which played Off-Broadway last season, and Richard Hellesen’s stage adaptation of A Christmas Carol during the holidays.

In 2018, DCPA will present Zoey’s Perfect Wedding by The Legend of Georgia McBride playwright Matthew Lopez with direction by Mike Donahue (January 19–February 25, 2018), José Cruz González’s American Mariachi (January 26–February 25), Lauren Yee’s The Great Leap (February 2–March 11), Kevin Coval and Idris Goodwin’s This Is Modern Art (March 22–April 15), Karen Zacarias’ Native Gardens (April 6–May 6), Pete Townshend and Des McAnuff’s musical The Who’s Tommy (April 20–May 27), and Eric Pfeffinger’s Human Error (May 18–June 24).
