The Tony Awards' embrace of live streaming will continue in 2023 with The Tony Awards: Act One, a 90-minute pre-show of live and exclusive content set to broadcast on Pluto TV June 11 beginning at 6:30 PM ET. Hosts and further details are to be announced.

This is the third consecutive year that Broadway's top honors have split the festivities into two broadcasts. In previous years, the pre-shows streamed exclusively on Paramount+. This year's Pluto TV stream will be unique in that the streamer is available free of cost and does not even require registering an account to watch. Viewers will be able to watch the broadcast on smart TVs, streaming devices, mobile devices, and in-browser via Pluto.TV and Pluto TV's apps. The Tony Awards pre-show will air on the streamer's Pluto TV Celebrity channel.

The main awards ceremony will follow Act One, broadcasting live from Washington Heights' United Palace Theatre on CBS, and streaming live (for premium-level subscribers) beginning at 8 PM ET via Paramount+. All Paramount+ subscribers will have on demand access to the broadcast beginning June 12.

This year's ceremony will be hosted by West Side Story Oscar winner Ariana DeBose, returning from hosting the 2022 Tonys as well. DeBose will become one of only 20 people to host the Tonys more than once over its 76 years, joining fellow two-time hosts Eddie Albert, Richard Burton, Glenn Close, James Corden, Henry Fonda, Helen Hayes, Gregory Hines, Brock Pemberton, Bernadette Peters, and Peter Ustinov; three-time hosts Julie Andrews, Bud Collyer, Rosie O'Donnell, and James Sauter; four-time hosts Neil Patrick Harris, Hugh Jackman, Nathan Lane, and Robert Preston; and five-time host Angela Lansbury.
