"I am absolutely thrilled that 129 of my Rockette sisters will be coming to see my show," said Rush in a press statement. "My experience as a Rockette is a vital part of my story. They will be in town as part of the Rockette Alumnae Association’s 90th Anniversary Celebration. I look forward to catching up and sharing a few kicks with them after the performance."
Written and performed by Rush, Kick is a darkly comic monologue play that chronicles her life experiences.
Here's how the show is billed: "On her way to her first big New York audition, dancer Bernie O’Connell is tricked into a car and attacked in a vacant lot off the Brooklyn Queens Expressway. Kick follows Bernie from a kickline to A Chorus Line to Hollywood and back as she picks up the pieces and finds the glue to put herself back together."
Originally titled Asking For It, the show won rave reviews when it was presented at the 2007 New York International Fringe Festival.
Kick has scenic design by Dean Taucher, lighting by Brant Thomas Murray, sound design by Joachim Horsley and costume design by Keili Camille Murray.
