Larry French, a musical actor and concert artist, died in his sleep on May 28, 2010. The cause was a massive heart attack. He was 58. Mr. French appeared on Broadway twice, in 1980 in a revival of Brigadoon and the following year as a replacement actor in the Public Theater's famous revival of The Pirates of Penzance.

He also appeared in the national tours of The Pirates of Penzance, as well as tours of Evita and The Sound of Music, in which he appeared with his wife Jeanne Lehman French. A member of the 2001 Acting Company of the Stratford Shakespeare Festival in Canada, Mr. French performed there in The Sound of Music, The Merchant of Venice, The Seagull and Master Class. He also made appearances at Augusta Opera, Alaska Light Opera and North Carolina Theatre.

An international vocal consultant for theatre companies in Seoul, Korea and Japan, Mr. French also sang in concerts with his wife. A graduate of Howard Paine University, he first came to New York City in 1978 from Dallas, TX, to pursue a career in acting, and shortly thereafter met his wife, who survives him.

An active supporter of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, he most recently appeared in the 2010 Easter Bonnet Competition, singing on stage at the Minskoff Theatre.

There will be a memorial service on June 7 at 4 PM at the Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church, 7 West 55th Street in New York City. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his name to the Actors Fund of America.
