Farewell to Maureen O'Sullivan, veteran film and stage actress best known for playing Jane opposite Johnny Weissmuller's Tarzan in six MGM films. O'Sullivan, who has died at 87, also had a substantial theatre resume, including Broadway's Mornings At Seven and the role of Edith Lambert in Never Too Late (1962).

O'Sullivan replaced Molly Picon in a 1969 revival of The Front Page and played Eleanor in a 1972-73 bus-and-truck tour of No Sex Please, We're British, which failed quickly on Broadway despite the play's huge success in England at the time. The year 1975 saw O'Sullivan in Samuel Taylor's play Sabrina Fair at Washington DC's National Theatre. In 1977 she played Amanda in the Glass Menagerie at upstate NY's Cohoes Music Hall, and in 1979 she appeared opposite Milo O'Shea in an Ahmanson Theatre mounting of Pygmalion.

"Tarzan" aside, O'Sullivan's film credits include The Big Clock, The Thin Man and A Day At The Races. In Woody Allen's Hannah And Her Sisters, O'Sullivan played the mother of co-star Mia Farrow -- her real-life daughter.

According to the New York Post obituary, O'Sullivan died June 22 of natural causes.
