There will be no understudies for this production.

PREPARATION
Please prepare brief cuts of two contrasting selections no longer than 90 seconds in the style of the show. Singing from the show for one of your selections is acceptable. A headshot and resume are required.

BREAKDOWN

XANADU

SEEKING:
KIRA (Clio) - Female Identifying, Age 20s-30s. Range: A5-G3; The youngest of Zeus’s daughters and the muses. Falls in love with Sonny. Pretty. Adventurous. Honest and determined. Muse of history and the leader of the muses. NOTE: This role requires roller skating.

SONNY MALONE - Male Identifying, Age 20s-30s. Range: C6-B3; A self-critical and depressed, mortal, chalk artist who falls in love with Kira. Handsome, but not particularly smart. He embodies 1980s pop culture and is very much a California dreamer. NOTE: This role requires roller skating.

DANNY MAGUIRE (Zeus) - Male Identifying, Age 40s-60s. Range: C6-A3; The hard-nosed “all work and no play” businessman who owns the theater he once built for his love, Kira. Used to be a budding artist like Sonny but has since let money and greed consume him.

CALLIOPE (Aphrodite) - Female Identifying, Age 20s-50s. Range: A5-G3; Kira’s older sister and fellow muse. She is jealous of Kira and as Melpomene’s sidekick, plots with her for Kira’s downfall. The Muse of epics.

MELPOMENE (Medusa) - Female Identifying, Age 20s-50s. Range: A5-G3; Kira’s oldest sister. Mother of the Sirens. She is jealous that Kira is the leader of the muses rather than herself, and therefore creates the plot for her downfall. Muse of tragedy.

THALIA – Male/non-binary identifying, Age 20s-50s. Range: C6-C4; One of Kira’s older sisters and fellow muse. Muse of comedy (Doubles as Siren, Young Danny, Tubes Singer, Cyclops)

EUTERPE – Female identifying, Age 20s-50s. Range: A5-G3; One of Kira’s older sisters and fellow muse. Muse of music. (Doubles as Siren, Andrews Sister, Thetis)

ERATO – Female identifying, Age 20s-50s. Range: C6-G3; One of Kira’s older sisters and fellow muse. Muse of lyrics and erotica. As Eros, she is responsible for shooting Kira with the arrow of love brought on by Melpomene and Calliope’s spell. (Doubles as Siren, Andrews Sister, Eros, Hera)

TERPSICORE - Male/Non-binary identifying) Age 20s-50s. Range: C6-C4; One of Kira’s older sisters and fellow muse. Muse of dance. As Hermes, the messenger of the gods, he is deeply masculine in voice but sassy and flippant in attitude. (Doubles as Siren, Tubes Singer, Hermes, Centaur)
