DESCRIPTION

Hideaway Circus is seeking a Production Electrician to join their open-air touring summer circus Canvas Sky. The production electrician works closely with the Production Manager to ensure a smooth operation of the lighting and power needs for the traveling circus. The 2024 tour includes travel with the circus throughout the East Coast and Southern United States.

Start Date: Immediate

Performance Schedule: June 1, 2024 – Feb 2, 2024.

Weekly Fee: $1,000 - 1,250 per week

Accommodation: Housing provided in company bunkhouse, private individual room, shared bathroom.

Employment Type: Contract - Non Union - Touring Employee

Duties & Responsibilities

Safely load and unload technical equipment during set-up and tear down at each site.

Manage on-site cabling and power needs for RVs and trailers.

Operate the lighting console during shows to execute lighting cues and changes as needed.

Troubleshoot any technical issues that arise during shows, including replacing bulbs, fixing wiring, and resetting equipment.

Keep an inventory of all lighting equipment and supplies, and order new items as needed to maintain an adequate stock.

Perform routine maintenance on all lighting equipment to ensure it is in good working order, and coordinate with outside vendors for more complex repairs.

Work closely with other crew members, such as the sound technician and stagehands, to ensure that all technical aspects of the show are coordinated smoothly.

Pick up rented equipment at the start of the tour and return the equipment at the end.

Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.

Requirements:

2+ years of experience in a circus, theatrical, live performance, or equivalent setting.

Friendly and professional attitude, able to work on schedule and under pressure.

Ability to read, understand, and execute technical drawings and paperwork

Ability to hang, circuit, focus, and troubleshoot theatrical lighting fixtures; knowledge of rigging and mounting techniques

For the Light Tech: Skills in lighting design and operation, must have an understanding of ETC family consoles; knowledge of theatrical lighting techniques. Proficiency in Vectorworks, Lightwright, Microsoft Office Suite, GSuite is a plus.

Physical Demands:

Work involves standing, walking, bending, kneeling, reaching, stooping, and other physical activities consistent with setting up heavy equipment. Work may include lifting, carrying, or moving objects and equipment weighing over 50 pounds.
