Theatre Aspen, the award-winning professional theatre company located in the heart of the Colorado mountains, is accepting applications for a Music Direction Apprentice to join our summer apprentice program. Situated in one the most unique destinations in the world, Theatre Aspen is the region’s most celebrated theatrical institution and has been a fixture of the community for over forty years, attracting a long litany of renowned performers.

For over a decade, the Theatre Aspen Apprentice Program (TAAP) for aspiring theatre professionals has been offering the opportunity for college students to gain hands on experience with professionals in their fields and the opportunity to observe and assist in the theatrical production process from start to finish. Theatre Aspen Apprentices will make valuable connections and develop career skills by working on the main stage, participating in special events, assisting in the administrative office and front of house and through available design and teaching opportunities in the Theatre Aspen School. While at Theatre Aspen, all apprentices will have the opportunity to work with creative team members and will attend weekly seminars taught by Theatre Aspen staff and other leading industry professionals.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
-Serve as rehearsal accompanist for all musical rehearsals throughout the season (pre-season preparation as necessary)
-Perform as Keys 2 in the orchestra for mainstage performances, if needed
-Serve as substitute conductor as needed
-Assist in creating rehearsal tracks for mainstage musical(s) and cabarets
-Assist in transcribing and arranging any musical compositions as needed
-Assist in teaching music to acting company
-Assist Music Director(s) as needed throughout the season
-Assist with the Theatre Aspen Cabaret Series throughout the summer, including creating medleys and arrangements as requested
-Potentially act as MD for any ancillary apprentice programming/events
-Assist with summer gala
