The University of Arizona seeks a visionary, innovative, and collaborative leader to serve as the next Director of the School of Theatre, Film, & Television (TFTV). The Director of TFTV will also serve as Director of the Hanson FilmTV Institute, housed within the school and funded through an endowment. TFTV is located within the College of Fine Arts (https://cfa.arizona.edu/), which forms part of Arizona Arts, the U of A’s unified gateway to the arts for campus and the broader community.
TFTV offers comprehensive undergraduate training in the art, business, and scholarly analysis of storytelling—whether on stage, screen, or in the dynamic and rapidly evolving world of media and entertainment. The Hanson FilmTV Institute supports the mission of the school by providing opportunities that prepare students for careers as innovators in the field. In leading both the school and the institute, the director will be an impactful and aspirational leader whose focus will be fostering faculty excellence and student success.

Reporting to the Vice President for the Arts and Dean of the College of Fine Arts, Dr. Andrew Schulz, (https://arts.arizona.edu/bio/andrew-schulz/) the director will serve as a leader in the College of Fine Arts (https://cfa.arizona.edu/) and the Arizona Arts. Arizona Arts (https://arts.arizona.edu/) brings together the highly regarded academic programs of the College of Fine Arts and world-renowned assets, programs, and educational opportunities provided by Arizona Arts Live, the Center for Creative Photography, and the University of Arizona Museum of Art. Established in 2019 as part of the university’s strategic plan, Arizona Arts magnifies the transformative power of the arts at University of Arizona and in its surrounding communities.
The next director will employ a collaborative, transparent, and forward-looking approach to leadership; exemplary personal and professional integrity; and a commitment to the University of Arizona's mission and core values. The director will have earned a terminal degree from an accredited institution in a field relevant to the programs of TFTV – or the equivalent – and have established a sustained record of excellence in administrative leadership, scholarship/creative practice, and teaching that merits appointment as a tenured full professor at U of A.
