Contract: $16 an hour

Dates: Seasonal Contract (11 month plus), beginning August 5, 2024

The Assistant Master Electrician is directly supervised by the Master Electrician, and it is his/her/their overall responsibility to assist the Master Electrician in planning for and executing the needs of each production and its respective designer.

An Assistant Master Electrician must have extensive experience hanging, circuiting, focusing, troubleshooting and maintaining stage lighting equipment. Knowledge of basic electrical wiring, circuiting and soldering is required as well as prior experience operating computerized lighting control systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the electrics portion of his/her assigned theatre. This includes breaking down the plot, tracking and arranging for the wiring of all set mounts and practicals that are required for a particular production.

  • Maintaining contact with the designers (in tandem with the Master Electrician) to be sure that all issues and requirements of the shows are met.

  • Loading in of each light plot including color, templates as well as troubleshooting so that everything is correct and functional before focus.

  • Light Board Programming and Running the shows in their respective theater as required or assigned.

  • Generating any paperwork required to keep the show operating smoothly such as preshow and postshow checklists.

  • Maintaining the light plot and the integrity of the lighting design as conceived and left by the lighting designer.

  • Updating and archiving of all information regarding the show including, but not limited to: Lightwright, Light Plot, Lineset Schedule, and taking archival photographs of each lighting channel as well as of any set mounts or effects implemented.

  • Attending all production meetings related to the shows in their assigned theatre space (when possible) as well as all meetings formal or otherwise after each tech and preview.

  • Leading and supervising any crews assigned to them to complete their tasks.

  • Assisting in repair and maintenance of all equipment used by the Electrics Department as needed.

  • Any other duties assigned.
