The York Theatre Company, in association with Willette Klausner, presents public workshop readings of Josephine's Song, subtitled "a musical remembrance of Josephine Baker," May 21-26 at The Theatre at St. Peter's in Manhattan.

Alabama Shakespeare Festival veteran Kent Gash directs the show, about the legendary international performer. Gash co wrote the book with Walter Marks. Music and lyrics are by Marks, best known for the musicals, Bajour and Golden Rainbow.

Jonathan Smith musical directs a company that includes Lillias White, Adrian Bailey, J. Paul Boehmer, Michael Brian, Doug Eskew, Kia Glover, Nancy Johnston, Barbara D. Mills, Manu Narayan, Stacy Sargeant, Paul Schoeffler, Michael Sharon, Josh Tower, Tamara Tunie, Joe Wilson and Pamela Winslow.

Performances are 7 PM May 21, 3 PM May 22-23 and 11 AM May 24. The Theatre at St. Peter's is in the Citicorp Center at Lexington and 54th Street. For reservations, call (212) 935 5824 ext. 21.
