News Winter Storm Prompts DC, NJ and Philadelphia Theatres to Cancel Shows With the National Weather Service forecasting a snowstorm moving up the East Coast of the U.S. Jan. 22 and 23, theatres in the Washington, DC, Central New Jersey and Philadelphia areas have begun announcing cancellations. The storm is expected to impact New York City far less.

Here is a rundown as of 3:30 PM Friday:

Arden Theatre Company, Philadelphia: "All performances and Drama School classes on Saturday, Jan. 23 have been cancelled. Please call the Box Office at (215) 922-1122 with any questions."

Arena Stage, Washington DC: "Due to this weekend’s severe weather, Arena Stage has cancelled all performances of Sweat, Friday through Sunday, Jan. 22, 23 and 24. Patrons with tickets to any of these performances will be notified by the Sales Office regarding new performance dates. As ever, please contact our Sales Office at (202) 488-3300 with questions or concerns."

Forrest Theatre, Philadelphia: No scheduled performances.

John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Washington DC: "Due to severe weather conditions, all performances on Friday and Saturday, January 22 & 23 are cancelled and the Kennedy Center will close today at 3 PM. Ticket holders will be contacted via email." McCarter Theatre Center, Princeton, NJ: "Due to the impending winter storm, McCarter Theatre Center will be CLOSED on Saturday, Jan. 23. Both the 3 PM and 8 PM performances of August Wilson's The Piano Lesson have been canceled. For ticketholders: If you have tickets for either performance and haven't already been contacted by the ticket office, or if you have questions about ticket exchanges, please call the box office (609) 258-2787 on Friday (today) or Sunday (1/24). We apologize for any inconvenience."

Philadelphia Theatre Company, Philadelphia: No scheduled performances

Shakespeare Theatre Company, Washington DC: "Shakespeare Theatre Company has cancelled tonight’s (Jan. 22) and tomorrow—Jan. 23’s performances of The Critic and The Real Inspector Hound. We will announce the status of Sunday’s performances tomorrow [Jan. 23] afternoon.

Signature Theatre, Arlington, VA: "All performances and events are cancelled for Friday, Jan 22 and Saturday, Jan 23."

St. Mark's Players, Washington DC: "St. Mark’s Players has cancelled the scheduled performances of Sweeney Todd for Friday 1/22 and Saturday 1/23. There is an option to change dates or to receive a refund. Information is on stmarksplayers.org. Studio Theatre, Washington DC: "Due to inclement weather, Studio Theatre is closing at noon today. All Friday and Saturday performances of Bad Jews and Between Riverside and Crazy are cancelled. Please call the Box Office at (202) 332-3300 on Monday, Jan. 25 to reschedule your tickets."

Walnut Street Theatre, Philadelphia: "All performances this weekend will go on as scheduled."
