It's sort of like The Mystery of Edwin Drood, but much shorter, entirely on the web, and with mouse clicks, and options all the way through.
Watch "My Little Red/Green Coat" below, and get ready to make your choices about how the story progresses (including, as the title indicates, the color of her coat):
"My Little Red/Green Coat" follows Jessie, a Harlem resident, who receives a text from an old boyfriend asking if she will meet him in Brooklyn. Jessie is "not good at making choices." Viewers are asked to choose which coat Jessie should wear on her journey. Over the course of Jessie's trek to Brooklyn, viewers are invited to make all of her choices for her – from which mode of transportation she should take to whether or not she should give up and go home.
The film stars Jessie Cannizzaro as Jessie, Alan Schmuckler as her ex-boyfriend (and many other characters), and JJ Schmuckler as a saxophone busker who follows Jessie on her adventure.
"My Little Red/Green Coat" features music and lyrics by Schmuckler, a story by Holstein and a screenplay by Schmuckler and Holstein. It was directed by Schmuckler.
"My Little Red/Green Coat" premiered at the New York Musical Theatre Festival in July as part of "New Musicals, New Media," a discussion on how the two mediums are moving forward together in the 21st century.
