On August 29, members of the cast of Beautiful: The Carole King Musical performed live on America’s Got Talent. The musical, now in its fifth year at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre, currently stars Abby Mueller as the title singer-songwriter.

Mueller took over the leading role August 7, having played Carole previously on Broadway in 2017 as well as on the national tour. (Her sister Jessie Mueller won a Tony Award for originating the role.) Mueller and ensemblists from the Broadway and touring productions performed a medley of “On Broadway,” “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman,” and “I Feel the Earth Move” live on the Season 13 episode of the reality talent competition.

Beautiful features a book by Douglas McGrath with music and lyrics by Gerry Goffin, King, Barry Mann, and Cynthia Weil—all depicted onstage in the musical.
