Longtime Hamilton alum will step into the title role of the Lin-Manuel Miranda musical's Broadway run beginning later this month, succeeding current star Miguel Cervantes—whose final performance is January 7. The news was first reported by Deadline and confirmed by Playbill.

Curtis has been performing with the show since 2019, playing a number of roles in touring and international stagings along with being in the Broadway production's ensemble. He has previously served as an understudy for Alexander Hamilton, the role he's now taking over full time.

Cervantes leaves the production ending an eight-year tenure with the musical. Cervantes joined the Broadway company alternating in the title role in 2016, succeeding original alternate Javier Muñoz who himself took over for original star Miranda.
